Trump envoy Steve Witkoff GUSHES to Putin that his memories with the Russian leader will be among the highlights of his RETIREMENT – then heads off to Ukraine to attempt negotiating peace!

Steve Witkoff has already decided what he’ll remember most fondly from his career as Donald Trump’s globe-trotting special envoy: Vladimir Putin.

Sitting across from Putin in Moscow on Saturday, Witkoff thanked him for hosting the American delegation and then shared a conversation he’d just had with Jared Kushner and Russian officials.

“We were all talking about when we retire we’ll have all these incredible stories and incredible memories,” Witkoff told Putin, “and yours will be right at the top of it all.”

Putin thanked him in his usual dead-behind-the-eyes monotone. Then came the far less sentimental business of trying to end Russia’s four-and-a-half-year war against Ukraine.

Witkoff and Kushner left Moscow for Kyiv on Sunday for their first official visit to the Ukrainian capital, where they met President Zelenskyy. None of their visits produced any breakthrough, with control of Ukraine’s Donbas region still the central sticking point.

There is such a thing as flattering an adversary for strategic advantage. But after eight trips to Moscow without ending the war, it's difficult to see what Witkoff gained by telling the man who invaded Ukraine that memories of him will someday rank among the highlights of his life.

Maybe it was diplomacy. Maybe Witkoff has simply aping his boss's preferred way of dealing with Putin.

Either way, watching an American peace envoy gush over the man whose war he is supposed to help end makes for quite a spectacle indeed.

The bumbling duo of Witkoff and Kushner is no diplomatic team, and of course Putin knows this and openly shows his contempt. Why is America being served so poorly?
