Ukrainians are in shock today—a Russian attack set a 1,000-year-old Christian icon on fire, which is older than Moscow itself.

Dozens of people in Kyiv are injured, including kids; 4 people killed; 1 more person died later at the hospital.

Just as Trump was holding a cage fight at the White House for his 80th birthday, Russia launched a massive attack on Ukraine, striking multiple heritage and cultural sights.

Among them is the historic Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, a UNESCO world heritage site—the holy place that’s quite removed from any government buildings in the center of Kyiv.

Metropolitan Epiphanius of Kyiv and All Ukraine: called it a “crime against humanity, against history, against Christianity.”

"As a result of the Russian shelling that is taking place now, on the night of June 15, the roof of one of the holiest places in the Christian world is burning - the Assumption Cathedral of the Pechersk Lavra in Kyiv.

We ask for prayer to save the shrine from destruction.

One more Russian crime against humanity, against history, against Christianity.

What else must the Kremlin's antichrist do so that the world realizes that it is necessary to act decisively so that the Russian terror against Ukraine and the very principles of peace stops?

Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra is one of the most religiously significant sites in Eastern Orthodoxy, one of the world's cradles of Christianity.

Ukrainians prayed to Jesus in this place since it was founded in 1050.

Last time, the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra was bombed and burned by the Nazis. Now the Russians are doing the same.

Other places destroyed and damaged in Kyiv last night:

  • Historic Dovzhenko National Film Studio
  • The National Cultural and Art Museum Complex "Mystetskyi Arsenal"
  • Nova Post terminal
  • A residential tower

This is next level barbarism from Russia. The Russian government is purposely destroying the icons of the Ukrainian cultural history and terrorizing civilians.

Thousands of Kyiv residents were hiding underground in the metro—women, elders, kids.

Russia targeted Dovzhenko National Film Studio in Kyiv (one of Ukraine’s oldest film studios), destroying Ukraine’s largest and oldest costume collection.

The studio held around 100,000 costumes and 3 million items of clothing.

Other buildings and facilities on the studio’s grounds were also damaged.

Putin’s generals are deliberately targeting irreplaceable Ukrainian cultural and religious icons in their delusional obsession to make the people of Ukraine submit to Russia’s demands.

There is an offer from president Zelenskyy to end the war. Putin refuses to do it.

Russia as a nation state is set on destroying sovereign Ukraine: it’s obvious these barbaric missile attacks have nothing to do with Russia’s “security concerns” or “protecting Russian speakers”—the goal is pure terror against civilians.

Another crime against humanity, ordered by Vladimir Putin.
