From Quora: "Zelenskyy is talking about retaking Crimea. ..."
Yes, he will.
Putin is seeking to use fear as a weapon. The truth is that Russia is losing the war in Ukraine. The evidence of this lies in the simple reality that, despite its best efforts, Russia has failed to conquer Ukraine.
In a brutal and protracted war of attrition, Russia has been paying dearly in terms of lives and treasure, and the harsh reality is that Putin has nothing to show for it. Nothing.
Russia is not a better place because of Putin’s war, and the Russian people know this.
When Crimea falls, it will be Putin who takes the blame.
Using a nuclear weapon would be like playing Russian roulette with a loaded semi-automatic firearm. If you pull the trigger, you’re dead.
Although he’s probably crazy (paranoid with delusions of grandeur), Putin’s not that stupid.
I believe that there’s some part of him that intuitively understands that if Russia uses a nuclear weapon ANYWHERE, the situation will escalate and expand into a world war that will bring about the end of the (not so-civilized) world — including Russia.
Both Russia and NATO have nuclear weapons — a lot of them— and highly effective weapons delivery systems. There is no way anybody can “win” a nuclear war. Putin knows this, but he’s counting on the West to be weak-willed cowards and back down from supporting Ukraine.
